Hernando County offers a wealth of family related activities. The Hernando County Fair, Swampfest, Blueberry Festival and the Brooksville Raid are just a few of the events brought to the community.
The Gulf of Mexico is located about 5 miles from Spring Hill. Fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, paddleboarding, kayaking, boating and the most spectaular sunsets in the U.S. are but a short ride away. Pine Island beach has scheduled drum circles, playground area and a gradual shoreline for family friendly days in the sun. Rogers Park has it's smaller beach and kayak launching area.
World famous Weeki Wachee mermaid shows are still a poplar attraction, since 1947, located in Weeki Wachee Spring State Park and the affordable admission ticket includes Buccaneer Bay water park where the clear, natural spring water is a constant 74 degrees. Enjoy exciting water slides, wildlife shows and river boat cruises where you may spot otters, turtles, deer, blue herons, bald eagles, fish, manatees, even an occasional alligator and the resident peacocks!
Nature lovers will enjoy the parks and hiking or biking trails in the county, too.
This growing community has an abundance of shopping options and restaurants opening to suit every palate-Italian, Japanese, Mexican, Chinese, Polish, Greek and of course every variety of steak, seafood, barbeque and other delicious American options.
Entertainment options include a discount movie theatre and an upgraded movie theatre with bar and spacious, comfy seating. Live theatre and a dinner theatre nearby. Bowling alleys with theme nights and full bar service. Tennis and excellant golf courses are available to the public.
There's something here for everyone, but if you want more activity options there is an international airport and cruise port plus world class restaurants and museums for children, science or art lovers just a short drive away on the Suncoast Parkway in Tampa or St Petersburg.
